Cluster 4: Malaysia Iron and Steel Decarbonisation Programme

Cluster 4: Malaysia Iron and Steel Decarbonisation Programme

Industry Lead:Mr George Lim, Malaysia Steel Works (KL) Berhad

Lead Agency: Malaysia Steel Institute

Background

Decarbonisation is rapidly becoming a key determinant of future competitiveness, market access, and investment attractiveness for steel producers worldwide. Malaysia's steel industry must be prepared to respond to evolving customer, investor, and regulatory expectations relating to carbon emissions and sustainability. This programme is therefore established to support the industry's transition towards low-carbon steel production through enabling frameworks, industry standards, and strategic decarbonisation initiatives.

Sub-Programmes

4A. Malaysia Iron and Steel Industry Renewable Energy Programme.

4B. Malaysia Iron and Steel Industry Carbon Tax Programme.

4C. Malaysia Iron and Steel Industry Green Steel Programme.

4D. Malaysia Iron and Steel Industry Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) Programme.

4E. Malaysia Iron and Steel Industry Energy Efficiency Programme.
